When I tweeted that I was looking for some fabulous Scottish suppliers in the wedding industry to feature on the Midway Media blog, Laura, Housekeeper of Crear Weddings was the first to respond.
I’m delighted to feature Crear Weddings and this is the first of my posts that I shall be dedicating to Destination Weddings. It’s a great privilege to feature such a beautiful treasure hidden away on the West Coast of Scotland around 2 hours drive from Glasgow. I’ve visited Scotland a number of times now and love it everytime we get the opportunity to travel there, which unfortunately isn’t too often. We will be coming up to the Highlands, later on this year for a wedding (which I’m filming), and one that I’m very excited about as it might mean I get to see my husband, Barry in a kilt as well as some Highland sight seeing! I may just have to arrange a visit to Crear Weddings enroute, that I’ve only just discovered thanks to the lovely Laura! Tea and cakes……may well be on offer if we can make it!
Anyway, less about my travels, lets really talk about Crear Weddings, what they offer and how it came about.
About Crear
Crear is an arts charity based on the west coast of Scotland, about 16 miles south of Lochgilphead (down a single track road!) so we really are out in the country in a fabulous setting! A few years ago, one of the musicians attending one of our charity residential courses remarked that he would like to be married at Crear...and from that single remark, Crear Weddings was born!

Crear Weddings and what they do…
Crear weddings cater for large and small weddings and civil partnerships. They are licensed to conduct civil ceremonies and civil partnerships and offer full exclusivity. You can of course opt for a church wedding at one of Crear’s local/neighbouring churches which you can then hold your post ceremony celebrations at Crear. For Civil or Humanist Ceremonies (Scotland is the only UK country to recognise Humanist ceremonies as being legal) these can take place within the grounds surrounding the house, the beach or on the rugged coastline that Crear has to offer. For indoor celebrations the main studio is larger than a tennis court (originally a Byre) and is lit by a continuous glass wall overlooking the Paps of Jura – making it the ideal venue for a party. With uninterrupted views to the Isles of Islay, Jura, and Gigha, and the lighthouses of Rathlin Island, you and your guests can enjoy complete privacy in warm and stylish surroundings.
Crear Weddings have two dedicated wedding planners, Stephanie and Wendy to help plan your special day from start to finish. What is also great about Crear Weddings is that they can put you in touch with people they trust for all the extra services that add those finishing touches to your special day, such as the flowers, photography, cake-makers and for the bride (and not wanting to forget the groom) the essential hair and beauty services.
Crear Weddings can cater for up to 100 guests but they are equally happy to offer their services for smaller weddings and those wishing a more intimate ceremony.

Crear Weddings also offer ‘wee weddings’ where a couple can come to their cosy Caisealrag cottage to stay for a few days and Crear Weddings will provide witnesses, flowers, photography and a wee wedding cake plus dinner (if the couple would like this). Laura mentioned that this service is extremely popular, especially with people who have previously been married and maybe don’t want to do the big wedding thing again! I’m sure a lot of brides to be would definitely consider this if the “big wedding thing” is something that they just don’t want. A truly romantic way of starting married life being just the two of you!
It seems that Crear is a truly perfect setting for your big day celebrations, raging sunsets, sand, sea….. beautiful coastal views and the sound of waves gently crashing on the rocks… From what I’ve read if you’re planning to wed in Scotland, whatever the weather or the time of year, – Crear Weddings as something that caters for all, offering a truly unforgettable experience.
