Corah & Greg - 10th July 2010

The Wedding

Greg & Corah after 10 years of being together tied the knot at the beautiful St Mary Magdalene Church in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, the resting place of Lord Byron. Both Greg and Corah are NHS health professionals within the NHS service. Corah and Greg chose 6 usherettes instead of male ushers to be on hand to give out the orders of service to the guests. They all looked striking in a traditional two piece Nigerian outfit in various shades of blue together with stunning hats in a lighter shade of blue. Greg and the Best Man, wore silver-grey tails with sky blue cravats with the same colour blue detailing on their patterned waistcoats. The page boys wore plain sky blue waistcoats with the bridesmaids wearing full length cobalt blue satin dresses complimented by a yellow and blue floral bouquet. Corah arrived at church in a vintage light blue Rolls Royce with her mum. As Corah's father had passed away in the December, Corah was given away by her brother. Corah wore a stunning ivory silk corseted wedding dress with chapel length train, with crystal detail across the neckline. The dress was slightly ruched and gathered slightly to the side at the waist with a delicate flower decoration completing the look. The service itself was carried out by Rev'd Katherine Herrod, a lovely and friendly vicar to work with and the ceremony was just beautiful and full of emotion. During the signing of the Registers, one of Corah's bridesmaids gave her rendition of “Can't Help Falling in Love with You”.

The Venue

Greg and Corah held there wedding reception at Colwick Hall, the ancestral home of the Byron family who occupied the hall for over 150 years before it was sold to the Musters family in 1660. Colwick Hall is situated next to Nottingham Racecourse set amongst 60 acres of parkland, a lake and the River Trent, an ideal spot for photographs. Colwick Hall is licenced to conduct civil ceremonies in the following rooms:-

•  1776 Grand Ballroom which boasts a beautiful painted ceiling and can hold up to 90 guests

•  The Lakeside Pavilion which can accommodate between 120 – 500 guests

•  The Decolwyke & John Carr Suite can hold up to 30 guests

•  The George Stubbs room for a more intimate ceremony overlooking the gardens which can hold up to 12 guests

Greg and Corah had their photographs taken within the gardens and by the Lake before sitting down to a traditional buffet style Nigerian wedding feast in the Lakeside Pavilion. Greg and Corah's wedding cake consisted of 4 layered iced tiers decorated with blue and yellow sugar flowers with a personalised cake topper made to resemble the happy couple. After the first dance, Greg & Corah quickly changed into traditional Nigerian wear to dance the rest of the night away. A chocolate fountain was provided by Coco Falls a company based within the Nottingham area. From our observations, the staff were very friendly and overall the reception was very well co-ordinated.
