Lisa & Darren - 25th April 2010

The Wedding

Lisa and Darren got married at the Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel near Shipley, Bradford. Everything leading up to the wedding was going really well and we met Lisa & Darren a month before to have a final chat about the wedding day and to look around the venue. When the volcanic ash cloud struck, it was touch and go whether Lisa's mum and dad would make it over from Ireland to attend the wedding. Luckily the ash cloud subsided and Belfast re-opened its flight schedule and the rest is history. On the actual morning of the wedding I spent a lot of time with Lisa, her, mum and bridesmaid Kelly. The two flowergirls joined later. Lisa looked absolutely amazing in her ivory wedding dress and her hair stylist and make-up artist created the Dita Von Teese look and she looked stunning with her long curled black hair, red lipstick and smokey eyes.

To top off Lisa's amazing look, she chose unusual wedding shoes in glitzy sparkly red which suited her red theme very well. Whilst I was filming the ladies getting ready, Barry was off filming the gents having some fun within the grounds of the hotel away from the bridal suite. At 3.00pm it was time for them both to get married at last! Lisa and Darren's ceremony was held in the Thompson room which can accommodate approximately 36 seated guests. One funny moment in the ceremony when the Registrar asked if anyone had any lawful reasons why Lisa and Darren shouldn't be married, there was silence then a huge thunder clap erupted causing everyone in attendance to burst into laughter. A classic moment that will never be forgotten and one we've never had the experience of before.

The Venue

The hotel itself boasts an 18 hole championship golf course, fitness centre and health and beauty spa and is rated as 4 star accommodation set in 200 acres of countryside. The hotel in appearance is that of an old manor house on the outside that boasts all modern facilities inside to meet the needs of its clientele. It has a nice patio area together with pagoda, which is ideal for photographs and is well kept which then extends onto a large lawned area (great too for group photographs) and where people can sit out and relax and watch the golfers in the distance, should they wish too! There are 2 restaurants and a separate bar for guests to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and it is licenced to carry out civil and civil partnership ceremonies in the following suites:

•  The Hawksworth Suite with its own patio area and private bar which can seat up to 120 daytime guests but does have the capacity to hold up to 200 guests for an evening reception;

•  The Bronte Suite overlooks the extensive gardens which can accommodate up to 70 daytime guests and can accommodate up to 100 guests for an evening reception;

•  The Thompson Suite which overlooks the gardens and Aire Valley . The room can accommodate up to 36 daytime guests only.

From our own experience filming at Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel the general appearance was very good, lovely hotel that is tastefully decorated with friendly and helpful staff. The wedding co-ordinator on the day was very hands on to ensure that the wedding day went according to plan.
