The Wedding
The day of the wedding was hazy sunshine and warm, just the weather Laura had been hoping for. The guests started to arrive around 2.15pm in plenty of time for the ceremony at 3.00pm. The colour scheme of the day was dark grey, burgundy and black with all the groomsmen looking very smart in matching suits finished off with a Calla Lilly buttonhole in cream with the groom wearing a burgundy Calla Lilly. The bridesmaids all wore knee length burgundy align dresses with cream Calla Lilly bouquets.
The ceremony room was beautifully decorated and complimented with burgundy and cream Calla Lillie's in square glass vases, the pillars were wrapped in part with silver wiring adorned with burgundy and cream ribbons with dangling silver mesh love hearts. Laura arrived on time in a black Mercedes car with her dad. Laura wore “Jenna” a fitted Maggie Sottero dress in ivory with some beading to the front and back. She looked absolutely stunning in such a beautiful dress. Laura's bouquet was made of burgundy Calla Lillies complimented with some greenery. Laura had chosen to walk up the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon in D Major which was played by Heavenley Reds, a classical guitar duet based in Ashby De La Zouch.
Laura and Tom exchanged an emotional set of wedding vows and the Registrar kindly read out on behalf of the happy couple “Today I Marry My Best Friend”, author: Anon. After photo's in the gardens it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Tom had a little surprise for Laura and revealed all during his speech. Several years ago Laura had fallen in love with a diamond ring she saw in a magazine while they were travelling together on an aeroplane. Tom promised her that he would get her that ring one day and when Laura wasn't looking Tom tore out the picture and had kept it hidden in his wallet since that day. Laura did indeed get the ring she had fallen in love with all that time ago and her expression said it all when he gave it to her on their wedding day. It was such a beautiful moment to capture on film!
After dinner it was time for the evening reception to begin and the night started with singer/saxophonist and DJ Paul Martyn who entertained the guests for the evening playing and singing a variety of swing and modern music. Soon it would be time for the first dance where Laura and Tom were to take the dance floor as husband and wife for the first time dancing to Eva Cassidy's “Songbird”, a truly beautiful song and one of my favourites. After a number of dances later it was time for us to say goodbye leaving the party to continue for the rest of the evening.
