Rebecca & Ed - 21st August 2010

The Wedding

Rebecca and Ed were married at St Mary's Church, Marston on Dove, Derbyshire, which dates back to the 13th century and has the oldest bell around Derbyshire. The central aisle was built around the 14th century and also boasts a recessed spire with 3 tiers of dormer windows. The north side of the nave was altered in the 15th century when the clerestory was built. Up until the bride was about to arrive, the day had remained cloudy but dry. The rain poured just as Rebecca arrived at church. Despite the weather, Rebecca was all smiles and she looked stunning in her Mark Lesley (style 2057) wedding dress in ivory adorned with delicate silver crystals complete with a full tulle underskirt with corset style laced up back and a chapel length train. Rebecca complimented her look with a silver crystal tiara and a mid length veil. Rebecca's bouquet was made out of beautiful cream roses with a diamante pin through the centre of each flower. The groom and groomsmen all wore brown morning suits complimented with ivory & cream waistcoasts and cravats. After photos at the church it was off to the reception at Tutbury Castle to await the arrival of the happy couple.

The cake looked every bit delicious being 3 layered tiers covered in smooth cream icing finished off with a waterfall of roses and ribbon around each tier. The theme for the tables were places that the couple had visited together and were stylishly decorated with a centrepiece altar candle encased in a glass vase with a circle of roses and freesias in cream and ivory to finish the look. Although it rained during the afternoon of the wedding, the couple took every opportunity to have their photos taken in between showers where we managed to get some great video footage of the dramatic thundery grey skies and when the sun did finally come out, the amazing sunset that Tutbury Castle boasts.

The Venue

The happy couple held their reception at Tutbury Castle in the village town of Tutbury , Staffordshire. The castle dates back to approximately the 11th Century but was destroyed during a rebellion in 1264. The castle was rebuilt in the 14th and 15th Centuries. Tutbury Castle was once the home of Mary Queen of Scots who was imprisoned at the castle on two occasions before her execution at Fotheringhay Castle in 1587. Today the castle is mostly ruins but is open to the public for a small fee. Tutbury Castle is licensed to conduct civil ceremonies, which take place in the Great Hall and can seat up to 40 guests. The onsite marquee can hold up to 200 guests for a reception. Maverick Venues heads up the catering at Tutbury Castle and the food is of an exceptionally high standard. We were fortunate to sample some of their delights. We have filmed at Tutbury Castle on two occasions during 2010 and the service given by the venue from our own observations is second to none.
